Arlo W. Truax, 73, of County Road 24, Sherburne, NY, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
He was born on July 31, 1947 in New Berlin, a son of the late Frederick and Alice Pike Truax and received his education in Sherburne schools. Arlo was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a custodian for the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District for 18 years until retiring. He enjoyed bowling and was a ham radio operator. He loved horses and enjoyed going to Vernon Downs.
Arlo was a member of the American Legion Post #876 of Sherburne.
Surviving are his children, John and Jean Truax and Larry Truax, of Sanford, FL; Shawn Truax of Sherburne; Arlo, Jr. and Jennifer Truax of Sherburne; grandchildren, Brandon, Brad, Jaylin, Makenzie; step-grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas and Kiersten; a brother, Robert and Barbara Truax of Morgantown, NC; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, step-father, Arlo Foster; brothers, David, Walter, Donald and Frederick Truax; and sisters, Beverly Gilbert, Sandra Maricle and Connie McNeiece.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 5-7pm.
Graveside services with military honors will be held in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery in the spring.
