Delphine R. DeLee
PLYMOUTH:
Delphine Ruby Austin DeLee, passed away peacefully February 19, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born in the family home March 1, 1937 in the Town of Otselic Center, NY to Albert and Ruby Palmer Austin and received her early education in Otselic Valley Schools and graduated from Hamilton High School.
Delphine ran the family farm while raising many children. She was employed at Gladding until her retirement in 2003.
Delphine was a beautiful woman inside and out. There was something special about her and she was easy to love. She loved each and every one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to spend time in the spring in North Carolina with her youngest son and his family. Always a hard worker, Delphine enjoyed gardening and horseback riding in her younger years. She enjoyed reminiscing the stories of family history including life on the farm. She loved to read, swim, go to the movies, and pony pulls.
Delphine is survived by her children, Laura McKissick of South Otselic, Becky (Pat) Horton of Homer, Lansing DeLee of Otselic, Kimberly Marshall of North Pitcher, Gwen/dolyn (Bill Haitian) of Georgetown, Brian (Tanya) DeLee of Otselic, Austin (Natasha) DeLee of Cincinnatus, Suki/Dale (Darryl) Fox of South Otselic, Keith (Amanda) DeLee of North Pitcher, and Clifford (Belinda) DeLee of Concorde, NC. 34 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is survived by siblings Valenta (Don) Misch, Jessie Worden, Noreena/Aunt Buzzy (Phil) Nelson, Dawn (Doug) Blinebry, Albert (Karen) Austin and sister-in-law, Rose Austin, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and the many children she considered her own, including the VanWagners. Delphine was predeceased by sons-in-law Ed McKissick, Douglas Marshall, and Ed Fox, brother Patrick Austin, infant sister Reba Ann, parents Albert William and Ruby Marguerite Austin and the father of her children, Lansing DeLee Sr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460 from 10:00 am to Noon and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A service will be held at 8:00 pm. Please remember CDC guidelines are in effect. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, Otselic will be held at the convenience of the family.
