Obituary

WATERVILLE: Bruce C. Maciag, 80, of State Route 12, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

He was born August 2, 1940 in Rome, NY, the son of Chester and Marie Shemborski Maciag, and attended Rome Free Academy. On November 26, 1966, Bruce married the love of his life, Doris “Dorie” Toukatly of Utica, and their loving marriage lasted over 54 years. He owned and operated Maciag Electrical Contracting in Waterville, and was also the Building Maintenance Supervisor for the Observer Dispatch in Utica for over 30 years. He spent most of his summers boating in the Thousand Islands, where he built lifelong friendships and always helped anyone in need. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending winters in Myrtle Beach.

Surviving are his wife, Dorie; children, Chester J. (Amy) Maciag of Alexandria, VA, John F. Maciag of Evans Mills, Penny S. (Thomas) Parisi of Clay; grandchildren, John Phillip Maciag, Samantha Michelle Parisi, Abigail Cantrell, and Paul (Alicia) Toti. He also leaves his brother-in-law Ray (Lorraine) Toukatly, sisters-in-law Gloria Duffy and Congetta Toukatly; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Colleen Pardi of Sylvan Beach.

In keeping with his wishes, there are will be no services or calling hours.
Interment is private at the convenience of his family.
Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Bruce did our electrical work for our entire home when it was being built and for several projects thereafter. Always kind, polite and honest and ethical.
