SHERBURNE: Robert N. “Bob” Llewellyn, Sr., 78, of Knapp Rd., was called home on Friday, April 26, 2019.
He was born June 25, 1940 in North Norwich, NY, a son of the late Leon and Gladys Elvia Pierce Llewellyn and was raised and schooled in the Sherburne area. On January 31, 1959, he married the former Sheila Margene Fox in Smyrna. She was called home on July 17, 2002.
Bob worked several jobs as a “Jack of all trades” and a truck driver. He retired in 2015 from Bert Adams Disposal after 18 years of service. He then went back to work for Upstate Construction Co., having also previously worked for Bill Kehoe and Jerry Bigford.
Bob was a caring person who would do anything for anyone and often opened his home to people who needed a place to stay. He was a talented guitarist who played in the bands, Pine Mountain Valley Boys and Echo Mountain. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle.
Robert is survived by his companion, Sherry Y. Miller of Sherburne; his four children, Glen Llewellyn of Sherburne; Patty and Ron Close of Smyrna; Robert and Debora Llewellyn of Sherburne; Sheila “Jeanie” and Kevin Davis of Earlville; Sherry’s daughter, Patricia and Richard Simmons of Norwich; a brother, Richard “Dick” Llewellyn and Alberta Strain of South Plymouth; two sisters, Elizabeth “Susie” and Howard Boise and Martha “Marty” Llewellyn, all of Sherburne; 13 grandchildren, Sara, Amanda, Jenna, Brad, Melissa, Ronald, Loretta, Ruth, Scott, Katelyn, Cynthia, Samantha and Sara; 28 great-grandchildren, special family friend, Jackie (Rick) Squires of Norwich; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sons, Leslie and Earl Llewellyn; a grandson, Joshua Llewellyn and brothers, Herbert, Leon and David Llewellyn.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
Interment will be in the North Norwich Cemetery at 2pm Saturday.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
