Condolence From: Harold Stevens
Condolence: SGT. John R. Powell

Passing only comes to those who leave no memories.

John touched so many lives’ that he will remain forever in our hearts and memories.

He was a proud and selfless man who served his country and the citizens of Chenango County with honor.

He also dedicated himself to the students at S-E Central School as a bus driver and the Citizens of Sherburne, NY, as a V/Justice in retirement.

John was a loving husband and dedicated father, who always spoke highly about and was very proud of all his children.

John and I worked many tours together at Chenango County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). He was also present and very supportive during many of the major events in my life. He and Mike Robertson were especially supportive during the passing of my father on the election night of “84”. Something I will always remember.

I too, will always remember John’s infectious smile and laugh. Godspeed John, my friend.

We will only miss you until we all meet again in heaven. Remember, God is great and merciful. Those who believe in God shall never die, only walking alongside him in everlasting life.

To the entire Powell family, we offer our heartfelt condolences.

CCSO Sgt. John R. Powell to Chenango – (10-7, 10-42.)

Harold/Sharon Stevens and family.

Condolence: John, You were a compassionate man yet firm when necessary, you helped me when I was young to find my way. For that I will always be in your debt. As a result of your guidance I went on to become a better person and to serve my country and community. It's men like you that make a difference in the world and guide others to do the same. I wish you Godspeed on your journey, may God keep you and look over those left behind.......
