Shirley K.  Bennett (Gale)
Shirley K. Bennett, 93, of Sherburne, NY passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Valley View Nursing Home in Norwich.
She was born December 25, 1924 in Syracuse, NY a daughter of George and Ethel E. Dutcher Gale and was a graduate of Minoa High School in 1943. On April 9, 1944, Shirley married Walter E. Bennett in Hattiesburg, MS. He predeceased her in February 1965. Shirley had been a resident of the Earlville/Poolville/Smyrna area before moving to Sherburne. She had worked for Colgate University in Hamilton for twenty years until retiring.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Joseph Beaudoin of Smyrna; her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Sandy Bennett of Smyrna; ten grandchildren, many great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ethlyn “Peg” Bensley and Susan “Sue” Kenny; and a brother, George Gale.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in the Poolville Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Chenango County S.P.C.A., or to the Poolville United Methodist Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
