SHERBURNE: Martha Giaquinto, 94, formerly of Sherburne, NY passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Athens Health & Rehabilitation Center, Athens, PA. She was born August 22, 1926 in Brooklyn, a daughter of the late Adam and Michalina Biernoct Strychowski and received her education in Brooklyn schools. Martha came to live in Sherburne in 1946 with her sister and brother-in law Lucille and Dr. Harry H. Epstein and their daughter, Phyllis. On September 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to Paul V. Giaquinto in St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne, who predeceased her in March 1950. Martha married Francis Giaquinto on October 19, 1979. Martha worked for TACO, in Sherburne and Reese Baldwin Oil Co. in Norwich. She opened her own business, Baker’s Boutique in Sherburne which she operated until selling it when she and Francis moved to Tucson, AZ. Francis died in May 1992 and Martha returned to Sherburne. After 2000, she moved to Berkshire to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Church and the altar and rosary society. She enjoyed flower gardening, especially growing gladioli and roses.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Pam and Sylvan Schroer of Berkshire; her grandchildren, Paul Vincent Schroer of Oak Harbor, WA, Scott Allen (Kara) Schroer of Oviedo, FL, Mark Adam (Holly), Schroer of Willow Spring, NC, Kirk Andrew (Stephanie) Schroer of Garner, NC: great-grandchildren, Daisy Anna, Lilly Mae, Hannah Lise, Olivia Jameson, Morgan Christopher, Ryan Paul, Kirk, Jr. and Tyler James; sister-in-law Ann Giaquinto of Sherburne, nieces and nephews Cynthia (Richard) Lollman, Michael Shaheen, William “Billy” Giaquinto and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Edmunds and Lucille Epstein and a brother Edward Strychowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date. Interment will be in St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
