Obituary for Franklyn Carney

Franklyn Carney
Franklyn Carney, 78, of Aldrich Rd., Norwich, NY, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017.
He was born June 24, 1938 in Danbury, CT a son of Franklyn and Ethel Cookson Carney and was educated in local schools. On August 20, 1966 Franklyn married Nancy Quinby in Earlville, NY. Franklyn was a heavy equipment operator who had worked for E. Paul Kovacs, Housatonic Valley Construction, the Town of New Fairfield, Connecticut Highway Department, and then Earthmovers in Danbury, CT until retiring. He had served in the Connecticut National Guard for 10 years. He had enjoyed racing motorcycles and competing in rodeos. He was also a commercial hot air balloon pilot and a member of the Connecticut Lighter Than Air Society, and the Central New York Balloon Club.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Nancy; two daughters, Holly (Kenneth) Keeler of New Fairfield, CT; Tammy (Jay) Whitlock of Bethel, CT; and his grandchildren, Shayne and Kyle Merrick; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Allyn Dodd and Alice Jean Fowler.
In keeping with his wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
Interment is private at the convenience of his family.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CNY Chapter, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
